About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Journal of Food and Life Sciences (JFLS) is an open access journal that publishes papers twice a year (June and December) and emphasizes these following scopes:

1. Food

2. Life Sciences

All articles are rigorously reviewed by reviewers. Articles should be created in a language that is easily understood by non-specialist readers in the topic of the article itself, but interested in research.

The main objective of JFLS is to provide a platform for the international scholars, academicians and researchers to share the contemporary thoughts and innovations in the field of food and life sciences. JFLS aims to promote studies in food and life sciences and so become the leading international journals in food and life sciences in the world. This journal intends to provide facilities to advance the development and application of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research methodologies in life sciences.  Three common reasons for rejection include: out of scope (manuscripts not in match with JFLS objectives); Too early (manuscripts are based on a limited number of experimental data that reduce significance); Lack of novelty (manuscript completed but not answered significant question).

Peer Review Process

In the reviewing process, there are at least two reviewers for each manuscript in the related topic. In addition, author(s) can also propose the candidate of reviewers. Judgement from the first reviewer will be main priority for editor to make decision, if there are only two reviewers. In case of three reviewers, decision will be made from at least two reviewers.

Generally, the candidate of reviewers will be chosen based on their reputation in the international publication number and quality. Next step, The Editor send the invitation letter for each candidate of reviewer. After the candidate of reviewer informed their availabilities for reviewing process, Editor create account for each reviewer and then send manuscript by OJS.

All reviewing process are in blind review and managed by editor in the OJS.

The editors then make a decision based on the reviewers' advice, from among several possibilities:

  • Accept, with or without editorial revisions
  • Invite the authors to revise their manuscript to address specific concerns before a final decision is reached
  • Reject, but indicate to the authors that further work might justify a resubmission

Reject outright, typically on grounds of specialist interest, lack of novelty, insufficient conceptual advance or major technical and/or interpretational problems.
